The True Apex Predator: A Guide to Byronic Dominance and Dietary Nihilism

Substack moderation controversy

A short examination of the Substack moderation controversy in relation to toxic masculinity and the manosphere. Part 3

In the first two parts of this autopsy, we established the grim mechanics of the creator economy’s fetid digital nightclub. We saw how platforms operating on a 10% hate tax don’t just tolerate the manosphere; they actively weaponise algorithmic outrage to drive paid conversions. The machine takes your well-meaning prose and feeds it directly to angry men in tactical fleece, farming the resulting clash for recurring revenue.

But this algorithmic manipulation has produced a fascinating, tragic side-effect. By constantly rewarding the loudest, most reactionary grievance, the platform has fundamentally warped what this demographic believes ‘dominance’ actually looks like. The algorithm does not reward quiet, unshakeable confidence. It rewards hyper-anxious, performative cosplay.

There is a profound and undeniable crisis of modern masculinity. Let us not mince words: the contemporary male has become pitifully, tragically soft. He has been domesticated by the Matrix, stripped of his biological imperatives, and reduced to a state of perpetual, anxious subjugation. If you look around, you will see a generation of men who lack the sheer, undeniable gravity of the apex predator. But the rot is not what the internet grifters tell you it is.

Softness is not eating tofu. It is not acknowledging the existence of a female orgasm. True, pathetic, beta-male softness is sitting in an LED-lit bedroom, clutching a Shure SM7B microphone, and whining for three unbroken hours on a podcast about female hypergamy. It is paying another bloke in Dubai a $50 monthly subscription fee to learn how to make eye contact. The entire modern manosphere—an ecosystem of terrified men desperately seeking validation from other terrified men under the guise of “self-improvement”—is the ultimate manifestation of beta-provider cuckoldry. You are not escaping the Matrix. You are just paying a premium to sit in its most pathetic, grievance-scented waiting room.

If you want to understand what high-value, dominant masculinity actually looks like, you must discard the gym-bro stoicism of the modern internet and examine the historical record.

You think the pinnacle of the male hierarchy is a bloke doing burpees in a Romanian compound and hoarding tinned meat? Please. Consider Lord Byron. Byron was an actual, undeniable Chad. He was a peer of the realm who kept a tame bear in his rooms at Cambridge purely to mock the university’s ban on dogs. He drank wine out of human skulls. He wrote devastatingly beautiful, immortal poetry, possessed a club foot, and was aggressively, fabulously bisexual. He fucked absolutely everyone—lords, ladies, the societal expectations of the entire British Empire—and died a romantic hero in the Greek War of Independence. That is what it looks like when a man bends the world to his will.

Or consider Saddam Hussein. The modern internet alpha is terrified of getting cancelled on X or losing his YouTube monetisation. Saddam Hussein faced down the entire coalition of Western military hegemony while wearing a bespoke suit, calmly smoking a Cohiba, and occasionally watching VHS tapes of his enemies being tortured.

You want to talk about “holding frame” and leaving a legacy? The manosphere bio-hackers are terrified of microplastics lowering their sperm counts. Saddam Hussein didn’t give a solitary fuck about his macro-nutrients. He literally had a nurse draw 27 litres of his own blood over two years to commission the “Blood Qur’an”—a spectacular, terrifying masterpiece of absolute ego. It was an unparalleled theological checkmate: it is strictly haram to write the Qur’an in blood, but equally haram to destroy a copy of the Qur’an. He trapped the world’s Islamic scholars in an unresolvable paradox just because he could. That is what an apex predator does.

Or look at Muammar Gaddafi. The modern alpha dresses in monochrome tactical gear because he is terrified of being laughed at. Gaddafi understood that true dominance is unapologetically flamboyant. He travelled the globe in flowing, vibrant silk robes, protected exclusively by the Amazonian Guard—a heavily armed unit of highly trained female virgins. While the modern beta-male complains about “globalism” from his gaming chair, Gaddafi rocked up to the United Nations in New York and pitched a massive, luxurious Bedouin tent right in the middle of Donald Trump’s estate in Bedford, completely ignoring Western diplomatic norms. He gave not one solitary fuck about having a CIA sponsored puppet-seat at the table; he brought his own tent and had a picnic.

Let us address the pathetic spectacle of the bio-hacking dietary purist. The modern manosphere is populated by trembling hypochondriacs who are absolutely terrified of a splash of oat milk. They frantically monitor their testosterone levels, hoard raw liver, and treat “seed oils” with the kind of superstitious dread usually reserved for medieval witchcraft. They police their daily intake like nervous Victorian spinsters tending to a delicate constitution, convinced that a single soybean will instantly strip them of their masculinity.

A true apex predator’s digestive tract is a nuclear furnace. He consumes exactly whatever the fuck he wants because his sheer force of will dominates mere matter. He will happily drink a soy latte out of a microplastic-lined cup just to assert his absolute superiority over his own endocrine system.

Which brings us, inevitably, to the Crypto-Neanderthal. This is the bloke who read half a thread on X about evolutionary psychology and now confidently asserts he has the untamed soul of a Neolithic hunter-gatherer. You claim you are biologically wired to be a conquering warrior, yet your greatest daily risk profile consists of day-trading shitcoins in an ergonomic gaming chair and having a minor pulmonary embolism when your fibre-optic stutters slightly during a live stream. You are not a hunter; you are a pampered, highly anxious consumer playing a spreadsheet simulator. The true historical dominant does not hunt for yield on the blockchain. He hunts for transcendent aesthetic experiences. He navigates the crushing bureaucratic dread of modern existence with a cocktail in hand, radiating a detached, glittering brilliance, and treating the modern digital economy with the utter, magnificent disdain it deserves.

Nothing exposes the fragile, beta-male reality of the manosphere quite like its reverence for Pepe the Frog. You have chosen a poorly drawn, perpetually sad MS Paint amphibian as the mascot for your supposed dominance. Pepe is the avatar of the resentful, the excluded, and the men who are terrified of making eye contact with a barista.

If you want to look at a truly high-value, dominant amphibian, you look at Kermit. Kermit the Frog is the ultimate practitioner of true Stoicism. He manages an entire theatre of absolute, unhinged chaos—explosions, divas, and literal monsters—without ever once losing his frame. But Kermit’s true alpha status is cemented by his choice of mate: Miss Piggy. The modern manosphere beta would be utterly terrified of Miss Piggy. He would write a 4,000-word Substack essay crying about her “toxic masculine energy,” her lack of “traditional submissiveness,” and her hypergamous demands.

He would be paralysed by a woman who regularly deploys karate chops to assert her boundaries.

Kermit, however, is so secure in his own unshakeable masculinity that he is not threatened by a violently dominant, high-maintenance, fiercely independent diva. He doesn’t demand she lower her voice to accommodate his ego. He accepts her absolute fabulousness because he is a true provider who secures the bag, runs the show, and knows that a real man doesn’t need a submissive trad-wife to feel powerful.

So, dry your eyes, put down the raw meat, and throw away your sad internet memes. Stop paying grifters a monthly subscription fee to teach you how to be a man. Because the profound realisation here is that the manosphere isn’t actually about masculinity at all. It is merely a small, curated mini-fishtank designed to emulate the real apex predators of our era: the toxic billionaire class.

If you want to know what these “alpha” podcasters are actually worshipping, you have to look at the top of the food chain. They are not really worshipping stoicism or historical greatness; they are attempting to appropriate the arrogant, insulated wealth of the unstoppable children who are actively destroying the human race’s fleeting chances of survival in the future. I often wish the world had never shat Donald Trump into it, but he is merely one loud symptom of a much wider disease—a disgusting black mould of cannibalistic scumbags who are eating away at the very core fabric of peace, democracy, and stability.

To understand what the manosphere is trying to become, you have to stop looking at gender politics and start looking at basic biology. Humanity is essentially a highly articulate strain of hungry yeast introduced into a fresh, pristine petri dish. We gorged ourselves on the Earth’s sugar, experienced a massive population explosion, and belched out a suffocating blanket of emissions that turned our own environment into a toxic wasteland. Having exhausted our resources, the yeast strain has collapsed into a cannibalistic death spiral.

Out of this toxic sludge emerged a super-strain: the billionaires, the tech oligarchs, and the media barons who have hoarded the last remaining sugar reserves. They own the algorithms, dictate the reality we consume through our screens, and calculate the profit margins on the collapse of the biosphere.

The tragic irony of the modern manosphere is that its participants believe subscribing to this toxic ideology will elevate them to the super-strain. They think that by adopting the ruthless sociopathy of the billionaire class, they too will get a seat in the lifeboat when the petri dish finally shatters. But they won’t. They are not the super-strain; they are merely the toxic byproduct—the carbon dioxide and alcohol poisoning the dish for everyone else, farmed for a ten percent commission.

Watching this play out in real-time is an exhausting, frequently depressing spectacle. It is a remarkably shitty time to be alive in many ways, and frankly, it is the sort of pervasive existential dread that makes it exceptionally difficult not to just pour a very large drink and tune it all out.

But yielding to the algorithmic rot is not the answer. True power is not found in performing for a camera, outraging an algorithm, or cosplaying as a tech oligarch in a digital fishtank. It is found in the quiet, unbothered act of authentic creation. It is found in having the discipline to write that complex, sprawling novel. It is found in spinning up your own servers, hosting your own infrastructure, and entirely removing yourself from the corporate panopticon that wants to monetise your misery.

Which is why you should subscribe to me here, directly, at this blog which I own and pay for and self-host on shitty little minipc running proxmox and a bunch of docker containers in a VM. Being clever and buying tiny little PCs and cloudflare and domains costs more than you’d think so I could do with some LOVE please.
